Aquilo: the August 6 step toward a waterfront vision
Updated: 3 hours ago
A waterfront vision moves forward through specific decisions. On August 6, 2026, the Eustis City Commission directed city staff to begin the first steps toward a purchase and sale agreement with AQ Mixed Use Lake Eustis, LLC for the proposed Aquilo redevelopment.
The City’s August 13 announcement described the preliminary concept as a mix of hospitality, residential, commercial and public-facing activity associated with the Community Center property and an adjacent parcel. The August action opened discussions about a potential agreement. It did not finalize a property sale or grant final project approval.
Urban Hideaway’s vision for Aquilo considers the connection between Lake Eustis and downtown: how an arrival becomes a walk, how a visit might support nearby businesses, and how hospitality and gathering places could contribute to waterfront life. These are design intentions that must be tested and refined through planning and the public process.
Places used for community gatherings carry meaning. As the proposal evolves, we recognize the importance of those experiences and of clearly communicating what is proposed, what has changed and what decisions remain ahead.
The August 6 direction is a milestone in that process. The City stated that any proposed purchase and sale agreement would return to the Commission for consideration and final approval. This article records that August action; it does not announce a subsequent approval.
We will share further updates as decisions are made and information is ready for release. Visit the Aquilo project page for our current design vision. Program, design, timing and delivery remain subject to refinement and required agreements and approvals.
